  1. You’d be right about that I imagine. Now ask yourself how many people believed in God then cast off that belief after something horrendous happened to them and they were left here to deal with the aftermath of that horrific situation. Please don’t use that fall back fanatic bullshit either. “well they probably never really believed in God anyway.” You Christians are good at using psycho babble to justify your belief system when it suits your argument. Oh but let someone try and use it on you.

  2. bluebell100…..A life spent believing something that has no evidence to support it’s validity, would be the definition of meaningless to me. no offense.

  3. I’m an agnostic.I percieve that there is a God or a being that created everything I can see. There is a design here and it’s a lot of things but the design is not random. The problem is relating to that being. Hence my Agnosticism. Meaning for all of this and all of mans attempts to explain God they fall short. I have 5 more questions for every 1 question they supposedly have an answer for. So agnosticism is not atheism or some middle ground. God is just unknowable.

  4. See thats where Cenk and I differ, I agree’d wit him totally about how priest act and how certain christians act, but not all christians believe God is that way I surely don’t and my mother never taught me that if I messed up or fell off by the wey sides in life that GOD would ever hate me. Its people like that priest who lead people in the wrong direction!~

  5. gengiz80…Atheists worldview is the natural worldview, they don’t ‘believe’ that there is not a god. They just don’t hold the belief in god(s). Theism is the belief in god(s). Atheism is the absence of that belief, not a belief in it’s own right. I hope this helps. I am an atheist and I am set in my worldview that I haven’t seen evidence to prove the claim of a supernatural god(s).

  6. A life of eating, sleeping, working and partying which is based off nothing is a pretty pathetic, meaningless life to have.

  8. i just have to say that being raised jewish that this rabbi’s pov was not an accurate representation. and cenk does not have his facts right on this one, for example, jews dont believe in any sort of afterlife in the first place, in judaism their is no rule against sexual arousal, masturbation, or premarital sex (yes this is true). this was because people would get married around the ages of 13 or 14 in biblical times so they never felt a need for it, just in case anyone was wondering

  11. no i just claim not to know not there is not. Thats a big difference but im only speaking for myself. Atheists are just as set in thier beliefs as any religious beliver.

  12. Yes, I do, why do you need an explanation.

  13. My guess is that most atheists quickly switch to religion when they are are faced with death. I bet most of em would pray their ass off if their boat was sinking in the ocean.

  15. Selflmmolator…agnosticism deals with knowledge, atheism deals with belief. Hypothetically, you could have no knowledge of something, but still believe it. In practice most agnostics are in fact atheists, but that is not necessary.

  16. Cenk switched from republican to democrat. Perhaps he’ll switch from atheist to religious. Then he could stop trashing religion.

  17. There is no difference between modern-day atheists and agnostics. Agnostics just choose to call themselves a more politically convenient
term. It’s nothing to do with being ‘uncertain’.

Find me ONE single atheist who actually claims to be certain that there is no higher intelligence anywhere ever… that’s ridiculous.

Modern-day agnostics are atheists who just don’t like that term.

  18. I like TYT but they need to learn that all religious people arn’t fanatics and its okay to be religious as long as you don’t take it to the extreme.

  19. Whats worse, organized religion (eg christianity) or organized atheism (eg. communism)? I think I’ll choose religion.

  20. That’s a ridiculous generalization- there are a great number of Orthodox American Jews, and in fact, MOST Israeli Jews are NOT orthodox, they are generally secular. At least be precise in your assertions.

  22. “Secularism -noun: a system of political or social philosophy that rejects all forms of religious faith and worship.”
Agreed if secularism is a philosophy that means it would be an ideology.
But secularism by itself doesn’t cause oppression, but oppression can definitely happen in a secular society, such as American slavery.

  23. (Part 2) And you say people mind their own business when it comes to belief. Tell that to all the homosexuals out there that can’t marry because of other peoples religious beliefs, or to the Africans who are dying of aids because they are told not to use condoms by the catholic church. What about the kids who are taught that they are all worthless sinners and that there is something wrong with them that they can’t even help. How about female genital mutilation?

    Comment by MonkeyFinger23 — May 14, 2009 @ 9:24 pm

  24. Do you not see the contradiction in your own statement? You tell me not to dismiss people’s beliefs because I don’t believe in them in the same sentence you call the rabbi/ mannequin thing ridiculous. You just dismissed the rabbi’s beliefs as absurd. lol…

    Comment by MonkeyFinger23 — May 14, 2009 @ 9:24 pm

  25. I’d have to agree but what about organized religion? I get the impression people use religion to push their own agendas ie the anti-gay movement, hate against muslims etc.
