  1. From what I understand, a holy war in Islam just means fighting against tyrant rulers, oppressors..etc..in the name of God. Nothing about forcing religion on people. Call me crazy, but it doesn’t sound too bad too me.

  2. So I guess the leaders of Germany, France and Britain, whom all gave much more forceful denunciations of the Iranian gov’t than Obama, are stupid, right?

    And Obama has called on Iran to stop the violence. Isn’t that saying something on Iran? So what changed? Nothing, besides the pressure getting to him.

    Obama has also said that there’s little difference between Dinner Jacket and Mousavi. That’s pretty much spitting in the face of the protesters and saying that they’re wasting their time.

  5. No… what must happen here is for the Iranian people to not bow to the will of a oppressive regime. They must stand against that which holds them down. And before you think they could not possibly change things in Iran on their own, Keep in mind what was once said about a bunch of colonials with muskets.

  10. While Mousavi is a hero and one of the bravest men of the 21st Century so far, this does not change my views of Islam in the least. Only a fool would question the fact that individual Muslims can be liberal democrats, but the books and the man who make them were so obviously misogynistic, intolerant, tyrannical, homophobic, and violent that

    Islam and other faiths before it, to paraphrase someone whose name I forgot, needs to be dragged kicking and screeming into modernity.

  19. Many people have been wounded, and many people have died. May peace be upon them. But this situation has fundamentally changed the world. I pray that those who have died know they have not died in vain.

    These action by the brave Iranians have changed the face of the world. Protest has been utterly redefined. Even the US government admits that.
